So as you all know, I'm really big on helping out everyone whenever and however I can here even though I've been absent for a week or so. (By the way, finished my EMT course, top of the class so I'll be more involved again. NO MORE STUDYING) I want to do a thread that addresses some of the more common questions people have starting out that keep appearing.
So far what I've come up with is: 1. Information on end mill types, purposes, etc. 2. Feeds and speeds. 3. Common problems and solutions. ? ? ?
What other, if any, subjects could I hit in this thread? I'm going to dedicate a fair bit of time to this as I want it to be fairly comprehensive and organized. What I don't want is to impart subjective information and opinion as it's purpose is to get folks on the right track and not convolute things with opinion.
Derek, when I get this typed up, I'll shoot a copy your way and get your input as well.

Congrats on completing the EMT course and extra congrats on being at the top of the class. This thread is a great idea. If the litmus test for this thread is topics that keep appearing, might I suggest you include something about homing.

Thanks. I won't be an EMT as in that's not my profession. I will, however, use it in my job daily and still do ride outs with the local FD ambulances so it's pretty cool. I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing this EMT advanced course. We had to take a year-long program and complete it in 8 weeks without omitting any material. Super fast paced.

Congrats on finishing the course and thanks for stepping up to do this. Here is a thought though... what if we started a MillRight CNC wiki? I must admit I'm a bit ignorant on wikis, but I've seen another community really get great use out of it.
Do you guys think that would be better than a thread? I could sticky a link here on the forum and also on the website. As I understand it, you me, and others we designate could edit. I love the idea that you have. Let me know what you think about the wiki thing.

Also, to make the list more ambitious: CAD and CAM choices, pro cons and capabilities of each.

A wiki sounds good though like you, I'm not up on the ins and outs of having one but could definitely figure it out.
I can also get something going on the cad/cam stuff once I finish this current one.

So the rough draft has been sent to Derek for input. Nine pages without some information I asked him to add in. lol. My brain hurts and I think my eyes are crossed.
