I am testing the stepper motor with UGS version 1.09. Connect everything , select COM port. I then click the Y+, Y- , X-, X+, Z+, Z- button under the Machine Control tab. The stepper motor move in around 5 seconds? Is the delay normal? Thank you for any suggestions.

Sounds like the computer is delayed in sending the command (Is another device using the same COM port?), or perhaps electrical interference near the USB cable (although, admittedly, that is not very common)... I also think that something is bogging down the comm port. I don't think it will make a difference, but try to type G91 G90 X5 in the command line and hit enter to see how long it takes.
Tried a different USB? Rebooted?
