My daughter inlaw is graduating from Fire Academy this week and is starting her first full time position. It's been a long, hard effort for a woman who's wanted to be a firefighter since she was a kid.
It's from an old growth vertical grain fir board that my grandfather salvaged from something 60+ years ago. The tree must have been over 200 years old when cut.
Nice machine guys. Fun to build, easy to use (project designed in Easel).
Have a great one!

Congrats to her for her accomplishment.
The plaque came out great and The wood has a cool grain with a cooler back story.
Thanks for sharing Chris.

I used Easel for this. I imported the shield graphic from a free vector graphic site I found on the web and the rest is just Text. I did have to manipulate some points to smooth the curves in some places.
1/8” (not!) Freud solid carbide bit driven by a DeWalt 611.
