Hello everyone! Finished cutting and assembling an alternative dust shoe using plywood, a 4" duct starter wrapped in electrical tape, 0.3 inch diameter neodymium magnets (x10), plastic surface liner, the provided steel collar for the aluminum boot and 4 screws. Attachments:

Is the included dust boot not usable? I just received my packages yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to assemble and try it out.

The included boot is a 2.5 inch. I have a dust collector so it is not usable to me. I was able to use the steel collar for the magnets.

I'm may do something similar. My dust collector has 4-inch hoses at the tools. Not really wanting to drop it to a 2.5 hose. Dust collectors rely on volume of air, not velocity like a shop vac.

Is the included dust boot not usable? I just received my packages yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to assemble and try it out. It works just fine. However I do have to tape the steel and aluminum parts together to get it to stay in place. Really need a fix for that. I am running the 2.5 inch hose since that's what my 30 yr old shop vac uses.
