I'm running the millright 4th axis UGS on Win 7 and sometimes with the z probe macro it decides thats its a good idea for it to probe in the up direction, instead of the down direction. Does this behavior for both 32 & 64 bit versions. It seems that if I connect and disconnect the usb with in ugs that it corrects itself. However, that may be a coincidence.

Its likely a matter of the position that you start at. For instance, if you command G38.2 Z-15 F100 it will move up if your Z position was already less than -15.

I usually zero out the Z before I run the probing function so that it will solve this very problem.

I usually zero out the Z before I run the probing function so that it will solve this very problem. I will try that. I've been using the z probe to map the my mdf bed for height. Just a little project to get to understand the machine, etc.
