My brother collects embroidered morale patches (I think that's what they're called?!) So the other day I'm checking out a few of his patches and noticed a "Wooden" example of a patch. Naturally my wheels start spinning and this is what turned out. The lettering and the darker circle are actually 1/32 raised and smoothed so it actually feels like a patch. I'd really like to do some 3D work with my M3 but not having much success. Hint Hint anyone got any pointers I'd take em.

So the first picture is the wood one you found? Or is it one that you cut? Either way, I think it looks pretty good!

Cool.
What kind of problems are you having on 3d carves? Let's hear about it and we will see what we can do to help.

How did you get the burn in just the engraved parts? Burn then sand the top parts? That is an awesome effect.. I like it very much, awesome job!

How did you get the burn in just the engraved parts? Burn then sand the top parts? That is an awesome effect.. I like it very much, awesome job! Its actually 2 different pieces of wood. The larger piece (square) is 1/4 Birch Plywood, I engraved the insignia into the piece. Then using the same insignia I switched the board out on the M3 to a piece of 1/8 poplar, which I took a torch to the face before I let the machine cut out the the letters and the ring outside. Then I pressed the cutout into the engraving. Perfect fit! The letters and ring are smoothed and it actually has the feel like I 3D engraved it. I did the code and design in Easel. Thanks for the compliments!
