This was my first attempt at trying to engrave a tumble. I am using the Jtech 7 watt laser. It's not really suitable for this kind of work, but for making one for yourself, I think it's ok and does the trick.I will note that this particular color and brand of mug seemed to work, but others might not work. I tried to raise the speed to 650 mm/minute 100% power and using cross hatch on a black tumbler, with not luck. I will need to do another pass over everything .

It looks great from here. Did it burn the blue material off leaving the metal underneath exposed?

Yes, I had very good luck with this teal tumbler and the laser leaving a clean finish. The black tumbler I did- some areas were crystal clean and others needed a hard scrub. I was told by someone with a very nice and expensive laser that they run into similar stuff on theirs. Long run times, so anyone that reads this and tries it out, I would suggest more line art and less of using the "fill" function in lightburn if you can get away with it

How big was the tumbler? how much clearance did you have from the bed? also how did you secure it in the jaws?
thanks

I used the smaller jaws for the chuck I believe. I reversed them outward to the inside of the Tumbler. I can remember the rest of the details on the size. You will need to have the risers on the Mega V though due to clearance issues with larger stuff like the tumbler
