So I got my shipment of the Mega V a week ago today, and after a few bumps, got my machine mostly tuned. I still seem to have a slight hiccup on the X axis when carving long, gentle curves, but I think I can get rid of that once I figure out how to unlock the settings in UGS and enter the fine tune settings for the X axis step. Anyway, the above pics are what I have come up with so far. The Patriots Logo I am actually selling already, and the plaque is a memorial for a motorcycle club I am good friends with, who lost a member this past April. Couldnt seem to get pics to work with the board, so linked my Flickr account.

Congrats on your Mega V build. I look forward to seeing what you've made, but the link to your Flicker account isn't showing here.

Thanks! The Memorial plaque was my first job that required a tool change, and I was nervous about that, but it came out really well.

nice. What software and is it the free version or the pay version? I am finding any of the free versions of CAD/CAM will not let me do carving per say. Just 2D cuts. Looking at V Carve Desktop now. May pull the trigger.

May pull the trigger. I am using VCarve Pro mostly, right now. It was pricey (about $700) but I am very happy with the results. This is my most ambitious carve to date, it took 4 hours, and while there are some tweaks needed to the design, I am pretty happy with the results of this prototype. Attachment Deleted

jpjavery, What bits did you use for roughing and finishing for those jobs?
Thanks

For these carves, I used a 1/4" downcut endmill for the roughing and pockets, and used the 60 degree v-bit for the finish. I have since moved on to tapered ball noses, and have been getting decent results. I will be posting some more projects later this week.
