Hey there gang. Finally getting closer to actually using my Mega V (35x35) after WAY too long. I'm having an issue with placement of the control box. I built a shelf above the mega v and the cables barely reach so I can't go any higher. The Z motor clears under the shelf, but the issue is going to be the dust collection hose. That will most likely hit the shelf. If I "mount" the control box on its side and cut the shelf down, everything should clear. Does anyone know if placing the control box on its side is a no-no? I really wish some of the cables were longer. Thanks.

The last two control boxes that I have built are mounted on the side of the table. So long as the fan and its outlet are not blocked, I don't see a problem.

I mounted the control box on its side, it works fine. As oldtech said, don't block the muffin fan; in my case the fan side of the box is down and it fits between rails on a shelf I built which is attached to the frame/table. In my case the muffin fan blows into the box (I may have repositioned it that way) so that it pressurizes the box to keep dust out, and I placed a 1" foam filter on the intake of the muffin fan (not in pic, but see arrow #1). As for the motor cables and sense wires, I folded them once and placed the folded end into a 2"x2" steel tube for EMI/RFI isolation, but this also is a tidy way to deal with the excess cable length. See arrow #2. This is a router/plasma version of MV.
Cheers, Lou

As Oldtech and bLouchip mentioned it won't be a problem. As a matter of fact, the control box for the Mega V XXL (48x48 version) is mounted on its side to the side of the machine

My Mega V control box has been mounted on it's side for two years now. No issues and works fine. I replaced the rubber feet with bolts through a 1/4" plywood side of the CNC table.
