Hello All! I purchased the Mega V XL after running a Carve King 2 for about a year and a half. I am excited to get this tuned in and start hitting some larger material, but I have a head scratcher that I ran into now that I have it together, and am hoping someone might have seen before....
I have the aluminum bed, and I noticed there is a lot of play between the lower black extrusions (The ones underneath the bed on right and left) and yellow outside joiner plates on both sides where the M5x12 cap screws go into the T Nuts. If I push the upper extrusion/gantry around it actually rattles the joiner plate. In fact, those button screws (which go through the yellow joiner plate and into the T-nuts inside the side of the extrusion track) are in very tight, yet there is still a considerable space between them and the yellow joiner plate (I have attached pictures) - and those T nuts never get tight. Is that supposed to have play there or did I screw something up? The connection between the End plates and the underside extrusion is very solid - Its just that the yellow joiner plate cant get tight enough into the T-Nuts.
I was considering getting some shorter button screws (like maybe they are too long and go through the T-nuts and hit the back side of the T-slot which prevents them from tightening up?) or put some washers on the outside to accomplish the same thing - but I figured if I messed something up I dont wanna just patch it :-)
OR....
Does this not even matter? I know that the gantry is really supported and squared to the upper and lower extrusions, and the bed is just just kinda "floating" there with the joiner plates and not really a structural component - but as I need quite a bit of repeatability on my cuts and mounting, I didnt want this moving around a bunch.....
Any thoughts? Appreciate your input!
Thank you!
