Well finally had a day off today and got the machine finished up and running. Still can't figure out how to get the homing switches to work, but I will keep working on it... Here was me just playing around a little bit trying to learn the software... I will do something better tomorrow, I hope as long as the honey do list is not too long for me. The first cut was a clean cut with an endmill, the reason that the second cut that you see here looks funny is that I was trying a different bit and different settings (Profile Cutting VS Vbit cutting) and trying to reuse the same wood for practice. I need to find something cheap to play with during testing.

Congratulations on completing your build, it looks like you are on your way. Not bad on those first cuts either.

I'm expecting to assemble the carve king sometime next week and wanted to ask if you had any difficulties/challenges? Would also like to know how long it took to put everything together?

Looking good! It's ok how you have it now, but your router is down pretty far in the mount. I mount mine up pretty far so that (most) of my end mills can suck up above the bottom of the X plate when I get to the top. Also let me know what you need help with on the homing switches. People often have questions on those.

Sounds good everyone, thanks for the suggestions. I still need to play with it a lot more and I will look into the switches. Here is the second cut that I did, only a couple of little hang ups, but they were my own fault. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Bill the only suggestions that I can give you is take your time and have patience. The only problem I had and it was not a big one was getting the tension on the Z axis right, I had it a little snug at first.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought that in this thread someone posted a link to homing switches with a video. If it was somewhere else could someone point me too it, I would really like to get a handle on using them since I bought them..haha

It's covered here: millrightcnc.proboards.com/thread/221/cnc-beginner-guide-read. If you haven't read it already, I encourage you to give it a read. But you can scroll down to the Homing section and that should get you going.
