Every time I leave my carve king set for a while then return I always have issues. The machine can’t just turn on and run. It is soooo frustrating. Now I zero in my machine. When I attempt to Home it, the Z axis moves the head towards the work surface in two jogs instead of moving up towards the limit switch. I’ve tried resetting, rebooting, but it doesn’t want to correct itself. Very frustrating. I had to walk away from the machine after trying several settings. Any suggestions? Thanks

If the Z axis moves down twice when you try to home the machine, it is likely that the Z switch is engaged. During the homing cycle, the Z moves first, and after touching the switch, moves off and touches the switch again, followed by another move off of the switch. If the switch is already engaged, the machine thinks it is already touching the switch and you get a move off, followed by another move off. This is the same two moves off the switch that the homing cycle has. I would expect an alarm after the second move down causing the homing cycle to stop and the x and y axis to not move. Is this what is happening?
You can turn your hard limits off by typing $21=0 in the command line of the console window and hitting enter. You can then turn on your verbose output in the Common Actions window, or by right clicking on the console window and selecting the option for verbose. You will have text stream across the console window. At the tail end of the repeating text lines, you may see Pnp Z. If you do, the Z switch is sending a signal.
To turn the hard limits back on type $21=1 in the command line of the console window and hit enter.
If you get a message saying that the settings are locked, go to Tools>Options>UGS>Sender Options and uncheck the Setting Locked box. Hit Apply and OK. You will be able to change the settings then.
I believe I am talking to you be email. You can let me know what you find there.
