ok so i have finished the build to where i am the point where it tells u in directions to test ur movement in 5mm on each access. but an error comes up telling me that grbl has not yet finished booting. fan is running when i plug it in. i tested the pots got those between the recommended settings. now i didnt get them to the exact .60 but there in the range... now there not all the same either... but im not sure why its saying that grbl hasnt booted yet!
any help would be awesome

Here is what I just sent by PM: It could be a couple things from as simple as needing to close universal G Code Sender and remove and replug in the cable. I'd try that. It's also possible that the firmware for corrupted somehow. That is pretty unlikely because we check them with a test boot before we send them out, but entirely possible. Try the restating thing I mentioned above. If that doesn't work reload the firmware using xloader (its on our resources page at www.millrightcnc.com/resources).also get the hex file that applies to you which is at this link sabercathost.com/10sM/MillRight_CNC_Model_M3_Grbl_Homing.hex From xloader, the baud rate is 115200, board is uno, hex file is what you downloaded, comm port is what shows in the drop down. That should freshen up the firmware for you and get you up. If not, let me know

so do i download Grbl Motion Control Firmware and Grbl compiled with recommended settings for M3 - with Home Switches... or just download the one with Grbl compiled with recommended settings for M3 - with Home Switches...im guessing Grbl compiled with recommended settings for M3 - with Home Switches...but its been uploading for like 20mins now

That's the right hex file. It shouldn't take more than 20 or 25 seconds to upload. Do you have another comp you can test that board on?

Try a different cable if you have one laying around. (it's printer usb) If not I'll get you another board out monday.

so i realized that my computer isnt recognizing it i looked under device manager and see that in got an unknown device...so im guessing got a driver issue. running windows 8. im gonna look andsee if there is a link for them under resources or if anyone can post it would be grate

Look at the "windows 7 with uno" that's a sticky at the top of this page. The process is the same and the drivers you need are there.

ok so after updating everything on my computer i found out that i had to turn off digital signature.. found a post... so im communicating now... so a option for com3 shows up now in the drop down menu. so when i switch to that and open. i have an alarm with an active status. so i feel im getting closer... so what is the alarm and how do i fix it...
