Belts

So i got my m3 to finally move on all axis. But it dont move well at all. Im guessing belts arent tight enough. how tight do the belts need 2 be? and im aslo having issues of the belts are traveling alot on the pullies. i seen a post about adjusting the pullies and motors also?

To put it simply, they should be tight enough that they "twang" like a rubber band would when pulled tight. The easiest way to make the tight on X and Y is loosen the screw that holds the idler pulley to the frame , pull the belt tight and secure. Then tighten the screw back down. When you tighten down it will pull the belt even tighter. The belt moving on the pulleys is called tracking. Tighten belts first and see how it behaves. If it tracks high on the idler pulley, lower the drive pulley or raise the idler pulley. Opposite if it's sliding down. Basically, if the pulleys aren't aligned on the same plane the belt will try to get on the same plane.

On the Y axis, put a large washer on top of the idler bearing and pull TIGHT! If you can't distort the sound of the plucked belt and it sounds like Meshuggah, you best pull tighter and get another zip tie.
