Hey all, I've just finished assembling the x-carve king and I'm at the step where I first go into UGS to jog the xyz. The problem is that the second I plug the usb into the computer, the fan stops spinning and only spins in small increments with a lag and the motors start producing a sound but are not moving. Can anyone assist please? heres a video i uploaded : www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzooBhxwWYYI'm running windows 10 and UGS does detect the com3

This is odd indeed. What voltage do you have on the positive and negative terminal before and after plugging it in?

Never seen that one before. It acts as if there's a voltage drop when the controller kicks on. Measure voltage across the 24v main pins and then double check your connections maybe something is plugged in backwards.

Also, thinking more about this, I suspect a short that is moving the power supply into over current protection. After you check voltage for us, power everything down and leave it off for 1 minute (also unplug the usb). Pull the drivers and unplug the motors. Plug the power supply and sub back in. Does it still happen? If not, one of the drivers is shorting when it gets enabled by the usb being plugged in. Power stuff down again then plug one stepper driver in. Repeat until you identify the bad one.
t me know. There is a spare in your kit.

fixed! Put the driver and motors in one by one, re-powered after each one and didn't even have to use the spare.

Woohoo. Glad it's good. Sounds like there was a short.
