Hey everyone. I'm completely new to cnc and computers as well. I just received my carve king and now have to get a laptop to run it. I have no clue what to buy and have bought and returned 2 so far from Best Buy. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I need to run fusion? Of course I don't want to spend much. I would like to be around 5-600.00. Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Fusion is pretty processor intense. My laptop want anywhere near that low of price range and will occasionally choke on Fusion. I have a small laptop I paid around $400 for and there's no way you could regularly use Fusion on it.
I recommend a good desktop for Fusion if you have to be in that price range. Or you'll have to up your budget.

I guess I'll have to just up the budget. I really don't have a place for a desktop and a laptop is just easier. Is there any in particular that you or any others recommend? Correct me if I'm wrong it has to be the nvidia or raedon ? And would something like this work. Asus X550VX-MH71 Core i7-6700HQ 8GB 1TB 15.6" 1366x768 NVIDIA GeForce GTX950M 2G Thanks for your time,

Should work. I use the Asus Q551L. It's only slightly faster than the one you listed.

Make sure it is a 64 bit processor for Fusion. Your best bet is to Google search the system requirements for Fusion and compare it to computers you are looking at. Otherwise it's just guesswork. If you bargain hunt you can find one not too expensive that will run Fusion. I got a deal on one for 379 a while back that can handle fusion... not blazing fast, but it runs it.

Decent desktop. A large screen that makes it easy on old eyes. Through the file onto a thumb drive and walk it down tot he laptop that stays connected to the cnc router.

ThAnks y'all for the replies. I'm leaning towards the asus but the desktop doesn't sound like a bad idea. Gonna do a little more research before I pull the plug. . By the way my name is Brad and I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions once I get it put together and ready to run. Ask Derrek lol Thanks again

I run the Lenovo I mentioned above connected to a 24 inch monitor, full size keyboard and mouse which is nice for doing design work. I have an old Dell laptop in the garage that I use with the M3 so I don't expose my newer machine to all the dust. You don't need a lot of horsepower for the machine connected to the CNC itself.

HP 17.3" Gaming Laptop 2.5 Ghz A12 QuadCore 12GB DDR4 2TB AMD Radeon R7 WIN10
HP 15-ba052wm / AMD A10-9600P 8GB 1TB / Radeon R5 15.6" HD Touch Win 10
Would one of these be a good choice? If so which one? The first I found for 500.00 and the second for 370.00 Thanks guys
