Well... received my King yesterday and got a chance to peak inside and even do a little late night (midnight - 2am) assembly. Never having purchased a kit of any kind before I was wondering how much frustration would pour into my world (as a mechanical fixing type I'm not). One of the key reasons I purchased this kit was that it was AMERICAN MADE, had instructions, and had support. Usually I don't care much for support since 9 times out of 10 it basically sucks. I only choose that route when I venture into unknown territories. SInce I have a full size CNC coming in the fall/winter, I did not want to mess around and disrupt my cnc learning process by getting a kit you had to "tinker & toy" with constantly to get it to work. I chose the king because it was this type of kit. I was looking for a mini cnc, wanted it made/supported in usa, and was reasonable in price. I have found that the product support here is tops. I would easily rate it an A if not an A+, the quality of the kit is professionally engineered and it's components have not been skimped on. The approach to assembly (directions) is pretty encompassing but fairly easy to understand or figure out (take that coming from a non-mechanical type!). I had a couple of "screw" mix ups (I think they call them "screw-ups for that reason) since the same size screw is mentioned but 1 is a button head, the other a machine screw. Not a mechanical type and not paying attention, I used the wrong screws and had to correct that issue. I assumed the descriptor "button head" was left off in the directions (WRONG my mistake - you know what happens when you assume). In a couple of hours I was able to assemble all the plates without cursing once....lol. So in my book - that's pretty good!
So far I am very Happy with the way things are turning out and can't wait to finish the build. If anyone is looking for a well thought out and engineered kit (with support) I'd have to say this one does not disappoint! Looking forward to the rest of my build over the next couple weeks as time avails. Knowing what I know now about this kit, I would not hesitate to buy it again.
On a side note, a friend of mine has a mini cnc from ebay. Paid about as much (it's all Aluminum) and 3 months later he is still trying to get it to operate properly. No support, hardly any understandable directions, nowhere to go to seek help. Think I'm gonna piss em off when he sees my King....lol
