Just thought I'd share a more purposeful non-decorative project. I'm working on a water tank system for my truck for taking showers, washing dishes, spraying off gear etc. while we are camping or at the beach. Needed an adapter plate to mount my pump to the tank and then I needed a box to mount the switch and fuse in a watertight enclosure. Enter Fusion 360 and my M3. The box is milled from 1" thick starboard. I had a box but wasn't deep enough so I used the top of that one rather than milling a whole new one. This was a scrap piece by the way. I didn't get a picture of the plate before it went on, but here it is mounted. Finished Product minus the spray hose.

You could say practical living made easier with the M3. Or, Good ideas come to life with an M3. ☺

Indeed. Truth be told, this is why I bought my M3. To help me make what I want when I want it. I know most everyone here uses it for artwork, decoration, engraving, and the like. My main purpose was making parts for projects. It's made everything from brackets to knobs, to bushings. There's a whole bunch of designs I've got made in fusion I haven't even gotten to yet lol.
Which brings me to my second note. Fusion 360. You all hear me recommend it all time. This is the kinda stuff where it is invaluable. I use it to model all my parts but it's awesome for the stuff where multiple milled parts are used in one project. I can just model the whole project and then CAM each one from there. If the projects require any motion I can model that as well. And now they are testing a plugin that tests stuff like shear strength, flex, etc of modeled parts. Awesome stuff.

I like it. These machines really do have a practical use. They can definitely save you some money if you put them to work.
Gonna most this to social media.
