Is it ok to mount the tiny heatsinks that came with the stepper driver boards?
And if I'm running shielded multiconductor for the home switches, is there a good pin on the arduino board to run the drain wire to?

It's ok, but the adhesive that comes with it is nothing special. I'd recommend a thermal adhesive. We don't tell people to put them on because we find it unnecessary with the fan (I've never lost a stepper driver) and because it's really easy to short pins with a misplaced heat sink.
I think anything labeled ground would be okay for your shielded wire ground.
Hope that helps.

I was worried about shorting pins with heatsinks, think I'll just leave them off. I'm at the electronics enclosure assembly stage. Can't stop grinning with excitement after how well the 1mm step tests went. Everything moved in the proper direction smoooth as silk😁

Nice. Sounds like you're pretty close to the fun.
