This is probably a question for Derek but...Does anyone know whether I can purchase just the dual mount for the Power Route. When I purchased mine there wasn't an option for single or dual. I'm assuming that the dual mount has extra holes on the back plate meaning I either drill my own holes or buy a new back plate.

As a follow-up to this from someone who doesn't have their Power Route yet... Is the dual mount just objectively better? My understanding is that it is (I chose to get it), in which case I was curious as to why it isn't just the default with single mount no longer offered. I can't imagine anyone would be frustrated by a $20 increase in a $3000 kit, but I can imagine someone being frustrated that they didn't realize they should upgrade when they bought it in the first place. I think this might be a case of sane defaults being preferable to increased configuration.

What would be the advantage of a two bracket mount? MY PR came with a single piece and required tweaking the angle of the router to tram well.

This got prototypes with two thin mounts then was released with one thick (7/8 inch) mount and I decided to test with two 7/8 thick mounts (what I’m referring to as the dual mount) and I liked the additional support it added.

So how much work would be needed to add the dual support to a Power Route that has a single bracket? I'm assuming that I would need to partly disassemble and drill two more holes at minimum. Is the single braket mount in the same location as it is on the dual mount? Or does dual brackets move the location of the single braket. Maybe a detailed picture would help.

There are two rows of holes for router mounts: an upper and a lower. I believe that every Z plate made has both of those rows all the way back to inception. You can install the top mount even with the Z plate installed. It's a little tricky to get to, but with about 5 or 10 minutes of fiddling and feeling around you can get the fasteners in and tightened.

I havent noticed any issues with the single clamp, but is there an option to purchase it anywhere if I end up needing it?

I just looked at my backplate and there are some unused holes. I just retrammed my router so wouldn't want to install it right away but I would like to have it just because. Derek, can I purchase the 2nd clamp?

I said that preproduction was two thinner mounts placed close together as shown in the photo in the thread you linked and they were consolidated to one mount that was thicker. The dual mount option has more space between the two now and each individual mount is 7/8” thick. We aren’t offering them individually at this time. It is something I’d like to do in the future.
