Might be a bum install of Java too. I'd try a different computer if you have one. Also run it with the router off to see if that makes a difference.

Bright side, at least it cut the whole thing this time.... As Derek said, might be java. Try updating java, or if you have, remove it then reinstall it.
if using windows 7 or 10 make sure windows is not powering off the usb port! (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-windows-10-turning-usb-devices) if you’re using a laptop, ensure that it is plugged in, preferably to a grounded outlet using a 3 prong plug if possible if you’re using a USB extension cable or unpowered USB hub, please directly connect the machine directly using a shorter than 6 foot USB cable — if your cable doesn’t have a toroid (metal cylinder often molded into the end of the cable) and you have a cable which has that feature, try it try a different USB port, esp. if you have the option to switch from USB3 to USB2 — if using a laptop try a powered USB hub — some laptops undervolt the USB ports to save power. if your router power cable doesn’t have a toroid, try adding one (note that what seems to be a toroid on a Dewalt DWP611 is actually an anti-theft device on all the ones I’ve seen) if possible, connect the router and the machine through a different circuit if you have a surge protector, please connect the machine through it
Try to route the USB cable AWAY form all other wires. I have a short 3ft extension on mine that goes UNDER the machine from the left to the right then into a shielded USB cable to the PC. It really does sound like a noise issue causing the lock up. will it run the pattern WITHOUT the spindle/router on? Raise the Z to mid point, set that as 0 then run the file.....eliminate 1 thing at a time...

Still messing with it. Most of the time the ugs platform just freezes up right when I'm about to click start. then I sometimes get a weird error when I start the ugs. I'm about to go thru all the wiring myself and make sure all my connections are right. Since I didn't put it together. Just getting annoyed that I cant even carve something small uggh. this is the error i get alot

That isn't a freeze. It just means that it saw an unsupported command. G64 is not a supported command by Grbl. It sees that command the firmware (Grbl) responds back by telling UGS that it doesn't know what G64 is, so it throws an error. What post processor are you using? I think it's the wrong post processor.
You can also go to the UGS settings and add various commands to the "pattern remover" that will make UGS just ignore those commands in your file. I think using the right post processor will help though.

Not a dumb question bud. Everybody has to learn and started from the same point you did. Which software are you using to generate your g code? If it is fusion 360 then when you click post process there is a drop-down menu on that screen that allows you to choose from a couple hundred different post processors. Select Grbl or Grbl.cps
Let us know if you’re using a different program and we can help figure that one out too.

I think the only one I use is F-Engrave. I was going to try the Fusion 360 but I don't see a free version, I don't mind paying after I figure this out a little more. Just trying all kinds of things. I have inkscape as well. and 2d desktop I think its called. But I have only generated g-code with F-Engrave. Just looking for something easy to use. I like Easel, but no internet in the garage yet to use the browser based program.

I use F-Engrave all the time. Make sure you clear the default header in the settings. "G17 G64 P0.001 M3 S3000" is the default header in the General Settings. i think this is the problem.

I think Rogers is correct.
Just download Fusion and then google how to activate your enthusiast license.

So I took out the default header, re installed platform UGS, just tried to run the Millright CNC text code and it went to C and stopped. So tomrrow im going to move things around and try a shorter usb cord. I think it might be that cord or the noise from the router who knows.
I WILL FIGURE THIS OUT lol

I had a lab professor say the worst thing that can happen is to put a project together and it all works the first time. You don't learn anything unless it doesn't work. Then you have to dig in and learn something to fix it. This troubleshooting will hep you down the road too, because you eventually run into problems.
