Welcome to the forum and good luck with your Power Route. It sounds like you have some cool plans for it, so I hope you post some of your work. If you haven't done so, check out the Resources tab on the MillRight website for more info on getting your machine up and running and working with Fusion.

Good day everyone. As requested I am here to intro myself. I am new to the CNC world. I've been in metal and woodwork my whole life. Been thinking of bringing in CNC into the shop to help speed up production times and add options for the customer.
I have a lot to learn. I hope I can lean on all of you pros for guidance.. Thanks for having me.

I feel like I am really late to this game, just read through the last 5 years of introductions before deciding to post my own. I'm retired military, we bought a farm that came with a huge shop, so I'm filling it with all the stuff I have always wanted to do. Woodworking is my main hobby now, used to be mechanics and riding motorcycles because I didn't have room for woodworking. After researching CNC machines for months, I knew I wanted a Millright but wasn't sure which one. When I got the preorder email for the Mega V XXL I knew it was the one. Never used a CNC before, never even watched anyone else use one. Knew what they were of course, but didn't know anything about designing a project for one. Received the CK2 mini first, the build was easy, the programming was not. Absolutely love the way MR packages and builds the instructions. I don't expect to learn any of this fast, which is why I got the MV XXL, knew I would eventually be doing big projects. I'm hoping it's just the Introduction forum that has been slow for the past 2 months and everyone is on the builder page. I look forward to working with all of you and possibly collaborating on projects not just helping with stumbling blocks.

Congrats on your purchase of the Mega V XXL. Learning on the Carve King mini will be a great way to break into the hobby before you get the beast of a machine that is the Mega V XXL. I think you'll like it too. Good luck and look forward to seeing what you create with your machines.

Hello there,
I am pretty new to CNC. I purchased a Mega V XL last month and it is built and runs mostly well. I am having some issues and am hoping to find some answers and keep learning this cool stuff. I have been reading the forum here since before I purchased my Mega V but this is my first post. Hello All.

Greetings,
My name is James, I've been a member here for a while, but never posted due to the fact that shortly after joining, the machine I purchased/assembled took a short fall off its temporary work bench and was damaged beyond recovery. In the end it wasn't a big deal, I had a lot going on in my life and wasn't as excited about it (the machine was a cost compromise). Anyway, fast forward to today and my daughter and I recently completed the assembly of our Carve King 2. This new machine is now safely attached to its workbench and is ready for use.
About me: I severed 22 yrs in the Air Force and have experience in helicopter maintenance, visual communications (graphic design), scale modeling, 3D design, 3D printing, and other related "maker" skills. I'm really looking forward to expanding into the world of CNC projects. As of this morning, I'm finding it a little difficult to figure out the work flow, but I've just restarted researching needed software and figuring out the order of operations.
I'm really looking forward to being able to contribute to some community discussions, learning as much as I can, and make some good friends.
Cheers -- James

Thanks for your service and welcome to the forum. Your background in design and maker skills will come in handy in your transition into CNC. Check out the MillRight Resources page for some tutorials that will be helpful with workflow and setup. There are also other videos on CNC workflow available on Youtube. Good luck. I Look forward to seeing what you create.

I believe the greatest challenge for me (at the moment) will be sitting through the tutorials, but I think it'll be work the effort. --James

Hello, Richard here.
thank you for the add and happy to be part of this group. took 2 years cad in high school and been designing and 3d printing for a few years now. cnc has always had my interest and after finally realizing that i needed to be able to machine aluminum and other materials for work i decided to get a cheap router to start with. 2 weeks later here i am with the mega v, haha. excited to see what capabilities ill be able to do with this machine and expand my knowledge on cnc/cam. eventually i want to get a 4 or 5 axis machine to cut my own stuff but one step at a time so i can learn the bits and programs before getting to ahead of myself. hope to be posting up some of my work once all setup.

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a head start on the CAD side of things. The Mega V is a great machine, very capably of milling aluminum, and it's upgradable to that 4th axis that you want down the road.
Good luck, look forward to seeing what you create.

Hello everyone, I am new to cnc machines but have experience with cad design and 3d printing. I figured why not slowly learn g-code and take the next step and experiment with cutting composites and metals. After upgrading the 3d printer to do nylon carbon, abs plastic and polycarbonate, I came to the realization that there wasn't to much more that could be accomplished print wise for the next few years inside my price range. For me the natural progression path within my budget let me to millwright. I have been slowly building the power route machine for about a year because of garage setup and relocation to Florida. This thing was a real pain to put together, I was spoiled by printers lol.

Hi all. I've been tinkering, hobbying, drawing, and building stuff pretty much all of my 60+ years. The last 22 years have been in IT support. I got into 3D printers about 5 years ago, which like many of us here has led to the obvious next step... desktop/countertop CNC machining. I had to learn Fusion 360 so i could design my own 3D printed stuff, but i never used the CAM side of Fusion until recently. I started with a small 3018 style CNC, very small and limited, but you do get the basic process down. Last year i graduated to a MPCNC (MostlyPrintedCNC). This is the one where you can buy the electronics kit and 3D print the structure, and uses standard electrical conduit for rails. Pretty cool concept, and very affordable. But not for anything that requires tolerances. Lots of flex in the printed parts that hold it all together.
So here i am putting together my new MV-XL. The capability, quality structure, local business (I live in GA about 2 hours from the new MR factory), and price points are what sold me. I can't wait to get this thing fired up. I am working mostly with wood, but also have a need to work with carbon fiber and aluminum for FPV drones and RC cars. I'm planning on this machine being a big contributor to my retirement income.
