for me it shows 800 on left and 260 on the right.
Joe
What are you viewing the calculator on/in? Computer (web browser - which?) smartphone? (which?) App?

OK folks.. new update today... Fixed the issue with the Chip Load being stuck on mm's. Add support for some metric cutters in Feed Rate Calculator. Added Power Route support in Fine Tune Machine. Add Power Route information in the About us section. Added a link to the Free Fusion 360 in the About us section. Cleaned up some display issues.
As always... please let me know if you see any more issues.
For those of you with the apps on your phones... I have one more change I want to make and once it is done I will be uploading an update to the 2 app stores so keep an eye out for your update notifications in the next day or so.

jreimers do you have the code of then webapp on Github? Is it open source? I’m asking as I have a bit of free time on weekends and I might be able to contribute. Would love to see your roadmap for the apps to see which part I might be able to help out on.

I am confused by your question. The RPM has a range of 8000 - 26000 and defaults to 8000 until you set it. for me it shows 800 on left and 260 on the right.

If you have set your computer to use larger fonts, it could do something like this. I've seen it on other setups in the past. For him to fix it, you need to provide some details, which type of system and browser, maybe even the browser version so he can try to make it happen.

Yeah, I don't know why mine shows up like that, but its not worth fixing the calculator, I get now what its supposed to mean , but for the longest time I thought calculator was just broken. I use machinists handbook for milling machine and lathe feeds and speeds, although they don't have the rpm's like a router.

Would it be possible to have what machine you selected be displayed on the feedrate calculator page, I switch between machines quite often and it would be an easy verification that the right machine is selected?
This has been added

Hey jreimers, Been playing around with this tool today and am really liking it! If you'd like to include it, I wrote up the snippet below to save your router and unit selection to localStorage. I saw you also added the machine description, so this will also make sure that it's set appropriately to start. You should be able to put this snippet below the code that handles the machine description in millrightcnccalc.js. If you'd prefer not to include this, it's no problem—I can set it up to run just in my browser—but I thought it might be useful for others as well. function ensureCheckboxRadio() { $('input[type=radio]').checkboxradio(); }
function setUpLocalStorageFor(name) { var $radio = $('input[name='+name+']'); var value = localStorage.getItem(name); if (value) { $radio.filter('[value='+value+']').prop('checked', true); ensureCheckboxRadio(); $radio.checkboxradio('refresh'); } $radio.click(function () { localStorage.setItem(name, this.value); }); }
if (window.localStorage) { setUpLocalStorageFor('Units'); setUpLocalStorageFor('Machine');
var machineValue = localStorage.getItem('Machine'); if (machineValue) { $('.desc').hide(); $('.desc#Machine'+machineValue).show(); } }

Hey jreimers, Thank you for the update! Really appreciate all the work you put into it. I have two recommendations. Would it be possible to have what machine you selected be displayed on the feedrate calculator page, I switch between machines quite often and it would be an easy verification that the right machine is selected? And the other is that the value field for the RPM is to short, It can only display 3 digits, maybe just extend it out so all 5 can be read? Again, thank you for the calculator it is an invaluable tool for many users!
JoeBob, Love the suggestion for showing the machine on the FR Calc page. I’ll look into it. As for the RPM field being too short, I don’t see this. I have looked at it on my phone (iPhone), iPad, and on the web in Chrome and Safari. What are you using that is only showing 3 spaces? Is anyone one else experiencing this?
Here is a link to a picture. I use Firefox, with normal zoom and text. This has actually always been an issue for me. I also see that you already added the machine selected to feedrate settings. Thankyou!

if (window.localStorage) { setUpLocalStorageFor('Units'); setUpLocalStorageFor('Machine');
var machineValue = localStorage.getItem('Machine'); if (machineValue) { $('.desc').hide(); $('.desc#Machine'+machineValue).show(); } } Thank you. This is a nice feature to add. So just to be clear, you are suggesting that I add the above code to this function so it will read localStorage upon page load like this? $(document).ready(function() { $("input[name$='Machine']").click(function() { var test = $(this).val();
$("div.desc").hide(); $("#Machine" + test).show(); }); function ensureCheckboxRadio() { $('input[type=radio]').checkboxradio(); }
function setUpLocalStorageFor(name) { var $radio = $('input[name='+name+']'); var value = localStorage.getItem(name); if (value) { $radio.filter('[value='+value+']').prop('checked', true); ensureCheckboxRadio(); $radio.checkboxradio('refresh'); } $radio.click(function () { localStorage.setItem(name, this.value); }); }
if (window.localStorage) { setUpLocalStorageFor('Units'); setUpLocalStorageFor('Machine');
var machineValue = localStorage.getItem('Machine'); if (machineValue) { $('.desc').hide(); $('.desc#Machine'+machineValue).show(); } } });
This will upon page load check to see if localStorage has been set up and set it up if it has not been and load the data from that localStorage so the user doesn't have to go to settings and set it up each time he loads the webpage. Now my question is does localStorage work the same way on smartphones?

Now my question is does localStorage work the same way on smartphones? Yep, if you add the code in the way you showed, it should now start saving people's selection on a per-browser basis. And yes, it should work the same way on smartphones and the vast majority of browsers. You can see a compatibility overview of localStorage here: caniuse.com/#search=localStorageedit: A bit more explanation, localStorage is a per-device API, so I'll still have to set my preference on each device (laptop, smartphone) that I use. But once I set it, it should save that setting next time I use it on that device.

I had thought about doing this before but never researched it completely. Thank you for the assist!

Thanks to riotonthebay the calculator will now save your settings. This is machine and browser specific. But once you set it. It is remembered.
